Nowadays, there are many different kinds of career choices for people choosing as a part-time job. In China, many people would like to select a part-time job for increasing their income or some other reasons. However, many Chinese female workers reflect that there is some distances between the selected career and the working satisfactions.

Some female workers took the part-time job with little working satisfaction degree that just for money, while a few female have high working satisfaction on their part-time jobs based on their interests. In addition, China is a country which has the special opinion on female people, so that it has some impact when Chinese female people choosing part-time jobs.

It is the bidirectional choices for both the company and the Chinese female workers, as a result of there are some limitations on female workers in China and the female workers also need to consider many factors when they choosing part-time jobs. There are three research questions on this paper. First of all, the paper will find out the popular part-time jobs for Chinese female workers. And then, it will identify the working satisfactions degree for female part-time workers in China. Lastly, this study should indicate the main factors for Chinese women to be considered when they choose the part-time jobs.

For studying the career choices and the working satisfactions degree for Chinese female workers, it should review the relative situation about the non-standard workers in China, the main industry choices and the main related factors for them when they looking for the part-time jobs in China. Debra & Helen pointed out that the non-standard worker is the employment that lack of the job-stability and entitlement to fringe benefits, and the social security of full-time employees. Based on the national statistics, there is almost 80% part-time workers focus on the non-standard workers’ group.

In China, some people are developing the tertiary industry by make full use their technologies, specialty and spare time for improving their lives quality and income, which is doing some part-time jobs. In addition, the rapid development of Chinese tertiary industry needs some people with high occupational ability and professional technology, so that the Chinese non-standard workers would like to use the chance of part-time for improving their ability in the serious competition. Therefore, the trend of part-time industry will absorb more and more non-standard worker’s attentions in China.

Due to the characteristics of the part-time job, there are some popular industries which are good for female workers take it as the part-time jobs in China. Zeytinoglu & Cooke, indicated that the jobs of tertiary industry are the most popular choices for Chinese female workers, which mainly focused on the service industry, the hospitality industry, and so forth. Firstly, these industries has more flexible timetable for people choosing as a part-time job .

As a result of the developed tertiary industry, there are so many job vacancies in the service industry and hospitality industry so that it has high possibilities to get a part-time job for Chinese non-standard workers. Secondly, the occupational characteristics of service industry decide that this is suit for the female part-time workers, which can show the women’s femininity and patience. Lastly, due to the Chinese five-day work system, the Chinese female workers can use the weekends doing their part-time jobs in the service industry because these industries is always twenty-four hours open for business which supplies many work opportunities for Chinese workers. In addition, the Education industry is also another popular choice for Chinese non-standard workers as a part-time job, as a result of it can make full use of their knowledge for teaching.

There are many responsibilities for a female worker in her daily life, so that she should consider some factors when she doing a career choice for a part-time job which is quite different from a man. First of all, most of the Chinese female worker will consider the relationship between the part-time job and the family life.

As a result of the Chinese traditional culture, the Chinese woman should place the family as the most important position, so that many Chinese female workers has more consideration on family which will weaken the professional interesting and occupational motivation when they choosing the jobs. Herby, the family factor might be the primary factor to be considered for Chinese female workers.

Therefore, there are some special reasons, some popular industries and some special factors for Chinese female people think over when they choosing the part-time job. China is a country which has traditional culture on women, so that it may have some findings on studying the career choices and working satisfactions on female workers. For investigating the career choice and working satisfaction on female workers, this paper is based on the questionnaires and the interviews as the primary research.

Doing the questionnaire is the best method for collecting the real opinions from the respondents, as a result of it can get the direct answers for analyzing. The questionnaire’s questions of this paper is mainly designed by three parts which are getting the results of the expected part-time job, how about the current part-time job’s working satisfaction degree and which factors influenced their decision-making when they choosing the part-time job.

Appendix 1 has shown the questionnaire for this paper. About the respondents of the questionnaire, it will choose the 50 Chinese female workers with part-time job by random in Beijing. The age group will be from 25 to 45, as a result of the people in this age group have the better abilities and more thoughts on getting a part time job. Due to the feature of sampled random, it is easy to get the general statistical understandings on the research questions for the potential reasons and motivations for this topic.

Choosing the questionnaire as a kind of research method for this study, it is helpful for getting the direct opinions on Chinese female workers with part-time jobs. The results of respondents can indicated what reasons and factors are influence the decision-making when Chinese female worker choosing part-time jobs and what extent working satisfactions for female people doing their part-time job based on the Chinese cultures. The interview is also quite important method for collecting data standing on the Chinese female worker’s point. A succeed interview is quite good for this paper getting the deeply results on this topic. The Outline of the interview’s questions is shown in the appendix 2.

It can choose a few people from the Chinese respondents of the questionnaires for doing the interview which has two or two more experiences on looking for the part-time jobs, because of these respondents have some successful of failure experiences on taking part-time jobs. Therefore, it can indicate how to balance the part-time career choice and the part-time working satisfaction, what the main reasons making them change another part-time job, what the special point on the differences between the Chinese male workers and the Chinese female workers, and in which industry has more advantages for Chinese female doing part-time jobs.

Furthermore, it also may give some suggestions or ideas for other Chinese female workers which is good for them when they choosing the part-time jobs. These results are good for this study getting the deeply understanding or problems on actual Chinese female working. This paper will investigate the career choices and the working satisfactions degree on Chinese female part-time workers. It will use the questionnaires and the interviews as the research methods for getting the preparatory understanding on this topic which is the primary research.

Based on the research questions of this study, the expected results of this paper is to indicate the main reasons and main factors which will effect the Chinese female workers when they choosing the part-time jobs and what extent of working satisfactions will influence the Chinese female workers changing their part-time jobs. From above, it may give some ideas and suggestions for Chinese female part-time workers on choosing part-time jobs. Due to this paper is used the qualitative research methods, it has some limitations on this study. First of all, the limited sample numbers cannot reflect most of the Chinese female part-time workers’ opinions.

Due to this paper is just chosen 50 samples for research, it limited the scope of the results. The researchers can increase the samples numbers for getting more and more thoughts on this topic. And, the sampled people is focused in the Beijing with high living rhythm, so that it many not reflect the Chinese female’s thoughts.

The distensible sampled scope will help increase the veracity of the results. In addition, the expected results of the qualitative research methods are just getting the primary understanding about this topic without studying the traditional Chinese culture on women. If the researcher would like to do the deeply results on this topic, it can doing the Chinese cultures on women for study why these factors and reasons are influence the decision-making for Chinese female workers choosing the part-time jobs.
