If the temperature continues to rise and it is leatherhard, namely the ceramics are overheating, porosity will increase with ceramics’ expansion.

In the second place, in the light of color. Greenware depends on its impurity before firing. Many organic materials exist, greeware is gray, and iron material exists in the greenware, it is light yellow. Fired in the moderate temperature, the organic materials volatilize and only iron material is oxidated, so it becomes pink. Under the firing of high temperature, if the oxidizing flame is light yellow or red, carbonizing flame is blue or white. Because the daily ceramics contain the iron material which is usually lower than 0.6%, so the ceramics can get relatively high whiteness by using oxidizing flame or carbonizing flame.

In the third place, concerning strength. With the loss of absorption water in the stage of low temperature, the strength will elevate. But discharging the water of crystallization, the strength almost remains unchanged. The strength is down in the course of quartz inversion whose temperature is 570℃. Whereas, the temperature reaches 750℃, the strength begin to climb. During this inversion, we should control temperature as the means of avoid overburning. 

In a nutshell, the changes of porosity, color and strength are evident from clay to ceramics.
